Coluracetam
Coluracetam is a nootropic compound in the racetam family. It was developed in 2005.
What is Coluracetam?
Coluracetam [(N-(2,3-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofuro[2,3-b]quinolin-4-yl)-2-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamide)] is a racetam. Coluracetam shares the pyrrolidinone molecular structure found in other racetam compounds. Coluracetam has a highly modified racetam structure. [1]
Coluracetam Uses
Coluracetam is sometimes used as a nootropic for cognitive enhancement in the same manner as other racetams. Since it is a relatively new compound, it is still in the process of being fully researched.
Coluracetam Benefits
Theoretical benefits associated with animal studies (which may not produce similar effects in humans) have noted that coluracetam is associated with the following:
Assist with high affinity choline uptake (HACU) [1]
Reduce excitotoxicity due to excessive glutamate [1]
Coluracetam Side Effects
Safety data on coluracetam is limited.
The toxicity in rats was found to be an oral dose of 300 mg/kg in mice and 980 mg/kg in rats.[2]
